I first listened to gurdonark’s music on the excellent ccMixter. He is a great enthusiast of free licensing media and collaborate with many remixes and soundtracks for videos. Now, he has released a very interesting album on Jamendo called Seven Virtues.

Imagine a wooden mallet.
Imagine an Orrefors crystal.
Imagine that mallet taps crystal.

All sounds were sampled from a wooden mallet hitting an Orrefors crystal! Samples were digitally modified and the result is an originally textured slightly electronic sound. Songs have the characteristic mark of gurdonark of creating a different atmosphere and taking your mind to a soundtrip.

I recommend reading the album description written by the author, on Jamendo. Enjoy the experience!

Long time since last post, but I’m slowly crawling out again. The reason is the nice compilation you are seeing above, The Silent Ballet IX. A few days ago I was attracted to hiddenplacemusic, via twitter, and read his review of this compilation. It was just what I need, some quiet delicate ambient songs!

I highly recommend the artists featured in this release! I specially liked the tunes Mehr als alles andere (Bersarin Quartett) and Telling Time (Redhooker). There is also a song from Bosques de mi Mente, which appeared here some time ago.

So, enjoy the songs!

The Pluteus Trip!

Pluteus larvaPlutei are born in the seawater. They represent a specific life stage (larva) of some marine invertebrates, the Echinoderms. Most of them are less than 1mm long, so tiny that inertial forces are dominated by viscous forces of the water. Just imagine if air was honey and we had to go for a walk… Plutei can swim and feed in this environment using their long arms and cilia. However, Plutei are ephemeral. They swim (and eat) for weeks or maybe months, before something else takes place. Currents can take them really far away from the place they were born. Millions of Plutei are born at once. How many would survive? How many would be thousands of miles away? How many would get proper food and not be eaten? Plutei carry the tissue of adults inside them. The food they eat, goes to adult tissues. In the end, the adult in formation takes over the larval body and the Pluteus is gone.

Plutei are part of the ocean’s hidden life. Organisms we can’t see easily, but that certainly got in between our toes when walking along the beach, or were swallowed during a swim… Its crazy and different “life” inspired the first compilation of songs from ccNeLaS, The Pluteus Trip. Download and listen, hope you like it! Go to the compilation page or continue below.

Arietys – Humanité

Arietys - Humanité

I wanted this album full with feelings and humanity in the form of a voyage varied in the rates/rhythms and sonorities. I wanted that that resembles a compilation of various electro kinds like a great musical voyage, one moment of escape spiritual in the heart from your emotions in the life from the every day.Although it is electro music, I wished that people feel and live the true life through my harmonies; joy, sadness, happiness, bitterness and love. Short good far from the usually felted and surface universe of the Clubs. I thus propose to you to share with me the emotions which I tested by composing these instrumental musics and a happy voyage in “Humanity” wishes you…

Well, Arietys, you did it.

Astrowind - The Night The Stars Flew

Why do we love the net? Because of its diversity. We love diversity. We can listen to excellent catchy songs somewhere or simply get deep into experimental waves right on the next server!

Astrowind is an experimental project made by 2 sound designers, I heard about in the netaudio yahoo group. I felt like putting it here! It is cool to go experimental…! Here is the album description, enjoy:

Astrowind is a project of two sound-designers from Latvia: Kriipis Tulo (known by the Oloolo project) and Mahi Bukimi. Musicians plays vintage analog synthesizers and various effects, both Soviet and Japanese.

Their first EP has been prepared from the materials of live sessions, recorded on a reel-to-reel audio tape recorder “Olimp-004s” at “Tokctoka Studio” in December 2006.

The basic theme of this album is the memories about warm and starlit nights in August, when in a cold Baltic sky it is possible to observe lots of falling stars…

ED3-STUDIO – e-Vibes

ED3-STUDIO - e-Vibes

Prepare your party set up! If you like techno music, electro melodies and trance leads you will definitely like e-Vibes. And if you don’t, don’t be afraid to try because the songs are very well produced, have catching melodies and great dynamics! The richness of instruments is a very positive aspect of the songs.

There are some dark tracks, more dance ones, and even a bonus track. I specially liked this one, hehe, it differs from the rest of the album making us wait for more music of ED3-STUDIO!
